Cremation services in Athens and Ritsona
Siatras Funeral Home undertakes the complete arrangement of cremation services in Athens and transfer to the Ritsona Crematorium, with respect, discretion and clear information about the procedure and cost.
We provide an official Service Invoice accepted by all insurance funds.
Requirements for cremation
A prerequisite for cremation is a prior explicit declaration by the deceased, without condition or reservation, stating their wish to be cremated. Alternatively, a corresponding declaration may be made by blood relatives or relatives by marriage up to the second degree.
The operation of the Ritsona Crematorium changed the available options, as the cost of cremation may be lower than the total cost of a traditional funeral, even when the grave belongs to the low-cost category.
Optional services for the family
Depending on the family’s wishes, the following optional services can be arranged:
- Farewell ceremony before cremation, with or without priests, including eulogies by relatives or friends, inside the crematorium. The crematorium hall can accommodate approximately 100 people.
- Newspaper announcements and posting of funeral notices for the ceremony.
- Transportation by coach for relatives and friends who wish to attend.
- Traditional reception with coffee, cognac and rusks after the ceremony, inside the crematorium.
- Meal with a menu of your choice inside the crematorium.
- Burial of the ashes in a special area within the crematorium.
- Selection of an urn from a wide range of designs and materials.
What the cremation service includes
The service includes: coffin, pillow, sheet, shroud, dressing, collection of the deceased from the place of death, transfer, preparation and the cost of 24-hour stay in a refrigerated cemetery chamber.
It also includes embalming by a forensic doctor with receipt and certificates, death declaration, registry certificates, cremation scheduling, cremation, placement of the ashes in an urn, receipt and cremation certificates.
After the completion of the procedure, the urn is returned and delivered to the family, together with the necessary invoice from our funeral home for claiming funeral expenses from insurance funds.
